La Cañadilla

La Cañadilla

La Cañadilla is a 1 hectare plot of old vines planted in 1952 by Sierra's grandfather.

The soil is predominantly clayey.

The Villarroya red clay soils, loaded with iron oxide (Villarroya = “Red village”) allow vines to resist to these weather conditions.

Its 1200 vines are bush trained.

The plot is located at 850 m over sea level between almond and cherry trees on the road leading to the sanctuary of the "Virgen de la Sierra", the highest point of the village (1 600 m).

The soil is tilled, no chemical weed killers used.

The phytosanitary control boils down to the fight against’oïdium with sulfur powder.

A large number of manual operations take place throughout the vegetative cycle : "epamprage", topping, green harvesting… These very arduous works are essential for obtaining grapes of the highest quality.
